Matthew Carmody has focused his Elder Law skills in the areas of Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Guardianships, and Medicaid planning, and has received multiple appointments as Guardian, Temporary Guardian, Guardian-ad-Litem, Court Evaluator, and Attorney for the Alleged Incapacitated Person in both New York State Supreme and Surrogate’s Courts.
NYSBA Speaker/Faculty: Matthew is recognized for his contributions and professional competence as a Speaker by The New York State Bar Association for their programs on 'Contested Article 81 Guardianships.'
He also provides legal expertise on 'Planning for Unmarried Couples LGBT and Others' and Estate Planning for Brookdale Senior Living's New York community.
Matthew was a staff attorney at South Brooklyn Legal Services’ HIV unit and the supervising attorney at Housing Works Client Legal Services prior to starting his elder law practice as an associate attorney with Brian A. Raphan P.C. in 2009.

Matthew Carmody received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York, College at Purchase, his law degree at the City University of New York School of Law at Queens College, and was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1999.
