As founder and lead attorney of the firm, Brian is available to all clients on all cases. His caring, hands-on, personal approach permeates the firm and gets results.

 

Growing up in Brooklyn as the son of a well-liked New York City policeman who served his local community for 20 years, and with a mother who was a homemaker and also a legal secretary, it's no surprise that Brian followed a career path that at its core helps people.

Appointments & Memberships:

Special Referee Supreme Court State of New York, Appointed as Member of the Office of the Court Administration Guardianship Advisory Committee, First Department; Member of the Final Account Subcommittee of the Guardianship Advisory Committee;

Appointed as a Member of the Statewide Judicial Training Subcommittee. 

Appointed by Appellate Division,1st Department, as a Court Examiner in May 1997. Individually selected and appointed by Surrogate's Court and Supreme Court in various capacities in hundreds of cases; 

 

Member: 

National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association, New York County Lawyers Association.

Brian's cases have been written about in The New York Times, The New York Law Journal, The Villager, and he has appeared on CBS News television and NY Radio. Online, his Elder Law News blog covers timely legal news facing New Yorkers and seniors. He publishes a monthly email newsletter for the firm's clients with vital, helpful legal information facing New Yorkers and Seniors. 

Brian is also a regular editorial contributor to The Senior News and 50+ Lifestyles NY, Avvo, and Agingcare.com on legal issues, as well as writing about nursing home neglect and bedsores for The Doctor Weighs In.

 

Pro Bono Lectures & Seminars:  

Brian frequently gives pro bono lectures and provides Q&A sessions in New York City to community groups and corporations seeking his advice. These sessions include help on legal matters such as estate planning, Medicaid planning, asset protection, nursing home negligence, guardianships, and issues facing the elderly.

During the COVID pandemic, he began his Webinar series to answer seniors' questions remotely.

Admitted to New York State bar in 1989 and New Jersey State bar in 1988. Admitted to U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York 1990; U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York 1990; United States Supreme Court 1994. Former founding partner of the firm of Druckman, Raphan and Sinel, New York, N.Y.
