Who gets your jewelry if you die without a Will?
We don’t know. Nor will you. Because in the State of New York, if you don't have a Will, your assets and possessions in most instances will be distributed by a court-appointed administrator.
In fact, the rules, known as the "Distribution Rules of Intestacy" may actually put your most valued possessions in the hands of relatives you may not be so fond of.
The primary reason for making a Will is to leave your assets, and/or property, possessions, to those you care about and not leave the decision to the state.
